June WINNER

There were some amazing and humorous guesses made for June's contest, many of which we liked better than the original answers!  We chose the one with the most correct and best answers as the winner of last month's contest.  Kristin Whiting of California will be receiving a copy of our new book Pocket PrismaPixels; Colored Pixel Puzzles.

June 2009 Contest - Instrumental Creatures

You've all heard those "what do you get when you cross a something with a whatever" jokes, right?  Well, this month you'll get to figure out what you get when you cross a musical instrument with an animal.  The answer is given as a composite word.  For example, let's take the old classic:  What do you get when you cross an elephant with a rhinoceros?  Elephino!  This is, of course, a combination of elephant and rhino.  For each of the 10 slightly more obscure clues below, come up with a composite instrument-animal as the answer.  Note:  the final answer consists of that overlap to form a composite word (that doesn't mean anything).  There are 10 correct answers, but if we decide your answer is more creative than ours, we may give you that one.

This month's prize is a copy of our NEW book Pocket PrismaPixels; Colored Pixel Puzzles (a value of $15+!!).  Send your full name, age, address, city, state, country (if not the U.S.), and postal code to GameMeister@BigFlyGames.com.  The deadline for entries is June 30th.

1.  Manatee that plays a long, deep, windy note.
2.  Large seabird with dual keyboards.
3.  Crop-destroying bug with an extremely high pitch.
4.  Long, scaly reptile with a double-reed tongue.
5.  Bumpy lizard that loops around before the sound comes out.
6.  Animal made of bamboo that eats bamboo.
7.  Hand drum with big front teeth that lives in a hole.
8.  Underwater strings that can crawl out on land.
9.  Bison with thumb-plucked metal notes.
10.  Flightless bird much like a bagpipe.

MARCH
2009 Contest - Mazle©

If you find the average maze too simple for you, give our new MAZLE a try!  In order to solve the 30x30 maze, you must first puzzle out where each 5x5 section from the lower image needs to be placed in the upper image to form the maze.  We've given you the two entrance/exit sections in their correct locations to get you started.  Each 5x5 section will be used once, and all sections are oriented correctly.  (We'll be offering you a more difficult Mazle later this year in which the sections may actually be rotated from their correct upright orientation.)

Once you think you've correctly built and solved the Mazle, send us an image of your finished puzzle for this month's prize of a copy of our NEW book Pocket PrismaPixels (a value of $15+!!).  Send your full name, age, address, city, state, country (if not the U.S.), and postal code to GameMeister@BigFlyGames.com.  The deadline for entries is March 31st.

JANUARY 2009 Contest
Going on a fishing trip

This puzzle is an old favorite in our family, especially on long trips in the car.  Someone would start by giving the first item in the list to be taken on this imaginary fishing trip.  Then each person in turn would guess a second item if they wanted to go along.  The first few guesses usually turned out to be unacceptable to the initiator of the game based on his as-yet-undetermined criteria, resulting in the reply, "you can't go".  Sometimes all the items began or ended with a particular letter or spelled out a word.  Sometimes all the items had something in common.  This month's puzzle is one of those fishing trips.  We'll start you off with a few items, and each day add another.

Once you think you've correctly figured out the code or pattern, send us a list of your items for this month's prize of a copy of our book PrismaPixels; Colored Pixel Puzzles (a value of $16+!!).  Send your full name, age, address, city, state, country (if not the U.S.), and postal code to GameMeister@BigFlyGames.com.  The deadline for entries is January 31st.

We're going on a fishing trip, and we'll be taking the following items:
truck
hammock
egg salad
hooks
insect repellant
reels
jaw harp
ashtray
cooler
bandanna
boning knife
lures
crushed ice
sandwich
fishing poles
